Phil Whyman’s interest in the paranormal came about from the early age of eleven, where he would quite often frequent his local library in the hope of finding a book or two on the subject that he had not already read; he was also a subscriber to the popular ‘Unexplained’ series of magazines, and an avid viewer of ‘Arthur C. Clarkes Mysterious World’ TV programmes.
His first strange experience took place when he was about fourteen or fifteen years old, when he believed he saw the form of his deceased pet cat, an experience that heightened his interests.
Phil’s first investigations were carried out at the age of sixteen or so, at the house of a friend’s relative who believed that their property was haunted. Unfortunately, nothing that can be regarded as paranormal in origin was uncovered. In 1999 he and a few trusted friends held a private investigation in what at the time was dubbed as the ‘most haunted house in England’ – Chingle Hall, in Lancashire. He went on to hold another three investigations there, with very interesting results (just ask two of the friends who accompanied him – Graeme Croft and Dan Wright!)
In 2002 and after successfully passing two audition stages, he was chosen as one of the core team members for the popular Living TV series ‘Scream-Team’, from where he went on to appear on the hugely successful ‘Most Haunted’ series alongside Yvette Fielding, Karl Beattie and Derek Acorah.
Over the years, Phil has gained a reputation as being a rational and down-to-earth paranormal investigator – a reputation that has won him many admirers.
In 2007, he put down his experiences and advice for fellow paranormal enthusiasts in his first publication 'Phil Whyman’s DEAD HAUNTED’.
Recently Phil Whyman launched his Dead Haunted Nights & Dead Haunted Nights PSYCHIC events, where he takes members of the public on overnight paranormal investigations at some of the reputedly most paranormally active locations within the UK – many of which actually appeared on the series ‘Most Haunted’.
